Xoomworks at eWorld September 2017 – Event Highlights

It has now become tradition for Xoomworks to attend eWorld, the leading bi-annual event for procurement innovation; and the September event was all about innovation, from procurement automation, risk management through to how the internet is affecting procurement.

For us this was a great opportunity to catch up with other industry leaders, connect with potential customers and share some of our own innovations with the audience.

The Xoomworks family was represented by three of our top consultants and our business development team. During the event we hosted 2 seminars, bringing in front of the audience 2 important topics that have been haunting some of our clients over time: ’The Top Five Causes of P2P Project Failure and how to Prevent Them’ and ’The Inside Story: From Machine Learning to Procurement Benefit Realisation’.

P2P Project Failures and how to prevent them with AIB

Dan Butts, Xoomworks Principal Consultant and Brenda Robinson, Business Change Manager, Allied Irish Bank have managed to engage the audience into a practical and advice driven discussion about the top causes of P2P project failure and how to prevent them. We were happy our session attracted quite a large audience, as we knew this was a sensitive topic and one that can raise a lot of questions and delays for companies when rolling out a P2P project.

Having in the session both Dan – as the experienced procurement expert and Brenda – as the happy client example, the two managed to show both the technical and practical side of the story, by clearly defining the main P2P failure issues and giving examples from a successful P2P implementation project for AIB.

From Machine Learning to Procurement Benefit Realisation

For our second session our consultants, Bob Thompson and Gary Entwistle shared the stage with Paddy Lawton from Coupa, discussing yet another thought-provoking topic, that is, using machine learning to fast track hard savings and real benefits for Procurement and the wider business.

The conclusion of this session was simple: machine learning should not be an intimidating concept that only a few companies can make use of. With the right technology and expertise every company can build the internal structure needed to make machine learning work for them.

Our thoughts on the event

The day didn’t go by without the chance of having some really good conversations with potential customers. From the conversations we had, one of the conclusions that came to mind was that a lot of companies still have a traditional procurement organisation but moving to an e procurement system seems to be largely accepted as the way of the future.

Our team brought home with them a lot of interesting ideas and points of view from other industry peers and were impressed, as always, by the quality of the sessions they attended, proving once again that eWorld is indeed the meeting place for the latest innovations and technologies in procurement.
